Around Thanksgiving, things around our house seem to get a little different. As we switch into the holiday mode, we always make an effort to remember the blessings we’ve received and the blessings yet to come. As we sit down to our turkey and all the Polish and Ukrainian food from our family’s tradition, it’s a great opportunity to pause and consider our friends, relationships, and remember what we truly have to be thankful for. My dad used to tell us, “A person that has friends and people that love them, has everything.” Material things come and go, but to have people in your life that you care about and they care about you, that’s a true blessing.

Thanksgiving is one day of the year we can reach out to those people and whether it’s a text, a phone call or even a hug, let them know that you appreciate them and thank them for just being them. Sometimes it’s not about anything else but letting that person know that you care about them. Let them know that they’ve blessed your life and you’re a better person because they are in your life. It takes only a moment, but leaves a legacy of caring. This Thanksgiving, try it for yourself and see not only how great you make those people feel, but also how great it makes YOU feel.

My last thought on this very special holiday here in the United States focuses on the men and women that we don’t even know and probably will never meet, but are HUGELY thankful for. I’m talking about the extraordinary veterans who have served this country and those actively defending it even as we sit down to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner. Even in this economy, there are always things we can be thankful for, and living with the freedom we enjoy has to be top on the list! Saying thank you to these soldiers just doesn’t seem like enough, but it’s a start.

With four sons and a beautiful wife, I have so much to be thankful for. On behalf of my lovely wife, Courtney, my sons, Cannon, Cade, Cohen and Colton, my wonderful sisters Karen and Lauren and the entire Home Office staff, thank you for all you do. I hope our work here at Vemma makes you happier, healthier and your life better. If I haven’t told you yet, I care about you and I’m thankful you’re a part of this team on a mission to make a positive difference in the lives of people all over the world.

My dad used to say, “Appreciation is the shortest-felt human emotion. When you do something nice for someone, forget about it, because they probably already have.” Well, let that NOT be the case this November 11, since it is a very special day.

You may not know this, but on this day in 1918, WWI ended when the guns went silent on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month — Armistice Day. But today we celebrate this day as Veterans Day. It is a day when we honor all of those who have served our country, defended our freedoms and protected our homes.

The men and women of the armed forces sacrifice precious time with their families. As a father of four, I can’t even imagine the scope of this sacrifice, as night after night they go without seeing or holding their kids for months at a time.

Many times, their love of country puts them in harm’s way, all so that we can live in peace. They choose to serve and stand ready for duty whenever they are called, wherever they are needed. Their bravery and determination make the American Dream possible. Today we recognize their sacrifices and celebrate their patriotism.

For their heroism, service and dedication, these extraordinary Americans deserve to be honored. I invite you to join me, my family and the entire Home Office staff in extending a heartfelt thank you to the soldiers and their families for choosing to serve and sacrifice for our country.

May God bless you and may His mighty Guardian Angels watch over you, always.

So remember, each time you see a solider or get the chance to meet a veteran, just hold out your hand, lean over and say, “Thank you for serving.” Don’t let your spirit of appreciation EVER fade for such an important sacrifice made on your behalf. And to all soldiers and veterans reading this…

They heroically embrace patriotism and carry with them our nation’s creed throughout the world.

On this Fourth of July, I ask that you join me in honoring the brave men and women of our military, and especially their families, as we express our gratitude for their courage, dedication to duty, and love of our country. Their bravery and determination is what makes the United States the leader and envy of the free world.

My hope for you this holiday is that you decide it’s time to declare your family’s independence. Every leader in this company will tell you that they can look back and remember a time when they made a decision to make this business work. To set themselves and their families up financially, forever. To never have to live under the pressure of financial challenges. To make sure their children live full, happy lives because of the price their parents paid to make this business work for them.

There is always a price to be paid for independence, but in this great country of ours, with all the sacrifices that have been made to give us an opportunity for greatness, it would be a shame if we didn’t seize it!

Also noteworthy is the level of commitment of Vemma CEO (& co-owner), B.K. Boreyko, who endured a 72 hour Murphy's Law type journey to get to Vienna from the U.S. It wasn’t a missed connecting flight, but a tornado, the serious illness of a passenger and even an empty aircraft tank that was to blame. Despite this BK couldn’t be kept from making it to Vienna.
